| Wayne
lives at Arrawarra Headland on the North Coast of NSW
Australia where he paints from his home studio. Raised on
the south coast of NSW he grew up with the blessing of
having the Royal National Park as his playground. The
Parks coast is lined with beautiful surfing beaches where
Wayne spent all his free time surfing and exploring this
wild environment, which no doubt set an early precedence
for his paintings. Wayne is influenced by many of the
early European/Australian landscape painters and
intrigued by their techniques. Armed with brushes and oil paints he re-creates his physical and visual experiences with the oceans elements. It is all painted through the eyes of a surfer. Wayne travels nationally and internationally to show his art at selected events. As an emerging artist, Waynes art continues to grow in new exciting directions. |
| I
have spent most of my life in and around the ocean.
Surfing for over 38 yrs gives me a great intimacy,
painting this subject. I have been lucky enough to have
been in the water up close with whales, sea lions, huge
manta rays etc. Even though I specialize in painting the
breaking wave it's also a buzz to include marine life as
creation fascinates me. I think it's important as humans
that we protect this amazing eco system. I have had the
opportunity to raise money through auctions of my limited
edition prints for organisations like The Sea Sheppards,
The Surfrider foundation and more. It creates a real
sense of purpose to be able to put back into the
environment. I have some interesting opportunities coming up in 2010 but for me the most important thing is to get better at painting, there is so much to learn. A big thankyou to my family, friends and customers for all your encouragement and support. May 2010 be a wonderful year for you all. Wayne French |
